Olympic and Professional Athlete
Born in San Francisco, I competed internationally for both Spain and the United States in the sport of Singles Figure Skating. I represented Spain at the 1988 Winter Olympics and the 1988 and 1989 World Championships and the USA in multiple international competitions (1983-1987). I also represented the University of San Francisco in three World University Games and was inducted into the University’s Hall of Fame in 2006. Following my retirement from competitive skating, I skated professionally on the Brian Boitano and Katarina Witt Ice Skating Tour, USA and Canada (1990-1992) to sold our arenas (e.g., Madison Square Garden) in the United States and Canada. I also played the role of Michaela in Horant H. Hohlfeld's Emmy winning HBO movie Carmen on Ice (1990), filmed entirely on location in the former East Germany.
Television Directing
After retiring from professional skating, I spent the next decade carving out a career in television sport and entertainment programming. Twice nominated for an Emmy Award (Outstanding Directing category,) I have worked in television for nine summer and winter Olympic Games, directed multiple entertainment television specials and international figure skating competitions, World figure skating championships and live and taped shows featuring Olympic athletes and musicians such as Seal, Barry Manilow, Ray Charles, Josh Groban, Burt Bacharach, Andrea Bocelli, Smokey Robinson, Demi Lavato, Wynona Judd, Gretchen Wilson, Sara Evans, Michael Bolton, Michael McDonald, OAR, Bella Thorne, Cody Simpson, Goo Goo Dolls, Backstreet Boys, Chicago, Jonas Brothers, Frankie Vali, Amy Grant, Chris Isaac, Celtic Woman, Earth Wind and Fire, Ashanti, Foreigner, Heart, Train, OAR, and Aretha Franklin.
Sport Psychology, Mindset and Performance Coach
While a successful television director, in 2006 I returned to university and obtained a master's degree in Sport Psychology, an area of interest from my competitive figure skating days when I worked with Dr. Bruce Ogilvie, one of the pioneers of sports psychology in the United States. With a growing sport psychology and high performance consulting portfolio, I currently work with professional sport teams, NCAA intercollegiate athletic programs, youth sport programs, and a host of individual junior, collegiate, professional and Olympic athletes in sports ranging from golf, tennis, squash, car racing, figure skating, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and baseball.
